GENESEO, N.Y. - The SUNY Geneseo women's golf team has been accepted as a member of the Northeast Women's Golf Conference (NWGC), beginning competition in 2020.
The Knights received unanimous approval to join the NWGC last week and will the 12th active member of the conference, joining Cortland, Husson (Maine), Johnson & Wales (R.I.), Keuka, Manhattanville, Nazareth, Suffolk (Mass.), Canton, St. John Fisher, Utica and Westfield State (Mass.).
Led by head coach Dave Thompson, the Knights will compete in their inaugural season beginning in the fall of 2020.
The NWGC was formed in 2019 and welcome the Knights as its first addition to the conference, joining the 11 charter members of the league. Cortland earned the inaugural NWGC Championship last season, tallying a two-day score of 687 to defeat second-place Utica by over 75 strokes at Colonie Country Club in Voorheesville, N.Y.
