Men's Cross Country Finishes Second At Inter-Regional Border Battle

LOGAN TOWNSHIP, N.J. – SUNY Geneseo junior Sean McAneny finished second out of 394 runners to lead the Knights to second place out of 42 teams at the Inter Regional Border Battle, hosted by Rowan at Gloucester County Park.

HOW IT HAPPENED 

  • McAneny covered the eight-kilometer course in a time of 25:02.7, less than three seconds behind overall winner Sean O'Connor (25:00.1) from RPI. 
  • Junior Jack Tate posted a fourth place finish (25:08.1) while senior Luke Holtzman came across in 13th place (25:38.1) as Geneseo was the first team with three finishers. 
  • Sophomore Bradley Farnham finished 30th (25:38.1) before senior Sean Welch placed 47th (25:54.6) to close the Knights' top-five. 
  • Johns Hopkins entered the meet 10th in this week's national poll, followed by Geneseo (No. 13), third-place RPI (No. 2), fourth-place Carnegie Mellon (No. 7), sixth-place St. Lawrence (No. 26), ninth-place Stevenson (RV), 11th-place Rowan (No. 33) and 12th-place Ithaca (RV) among the ranked teams in today's field.
  • Gloucester County Park will also be the site of the NCAA Division III Atlantic Regional Championships (Nov. 10) next month.
