GENESEO, N.Y. - SUNY Geneseo men's lacrosse head coach Nick Fiorentino will be presenting a "Whiteboard Breakout Session" as part of the Intercollegiate Men's Lacrosse Coaches' Association Virtual Convention, on Thursday, Dec. 10.
Fiorentino will be leading a discussion with other college men's lacrosse coaches from across the nation about goalkeeper training, sharing his presentation, "How to Coach Goalies to Coach Themselves." Fiorentino, a former college goalkeeper for NCAA Division III perennial contender Salisbury (Md.), was a goalkeeper for the Seagulls, leading the team to an NCAA Division III National Championship in 2008.
Fiorentino's presentation targets smaller coaching staffs, allowing them the opportunity to develop fundamental goalkeeping skills without having to designate a coach to work specifically with goalkeepers. It's a system that Fiorentino has successfully implemented at Geneseo, as the Knights' starting goalkeeper has earned All-SUNYAC honors in each complete season under Fiorentino (Michael Yehl, 2017; Tyler Wetzel, 2018 & 2019).
"I am very excited to present at the 2020 IMLCA Convention," said Fiorentino. "Any opportunity to speak to a group of coaches and share knowledge on a positional group, concept, or fundamental skill is an honor. The best minds in the business share their experiences and drills for success with their teams. This is an incredible opportunity for myself to grow and develop as a coach and leader."
Fiorentino will present on Thursday at 3:00 p.m. as part of the convention's Whiteboard Breakout Sessions.
