GENESEO, N.Y. – SUNY Geneseo sophomore attackman Zachary DeBottis totaled three goals and four assists while senior attackman Tim Wright added three goals and three assists to lead the Knights to a 22-2 victory over visiting Elmira, Saturday.
The Knights jumped out to a 6-0 first-quarter lead as DeBottis was credited with a goal and two assists. A tally by senior attackman Ryan Gulbransen kicked off a 3-0 spurt as Geneseo led 9-0 with 7:20 on the second-quarter clock.
Elmira got on the board with a man-up tally at 6:40, but the Knights added two more goals in the final five minutes to carry and 11-1 advantage into the halftime locker room.
The Soaring Eagles (1-5) opened the third-quarter scoring at 12:55, but Geneseo scored 11-unanswered goals the rest of the way to earn the win.
With the victory, Geneseo improved to 5-2 to match its win total from each of the last four seasons. The Knights will return to action on Tuesday (April 5) for a 5:00 p.m. match-up at Scranton.
