GENESEO, N.Y. – SUNY Geneseo senior forward Andrew Romano recorded another multi-point night, providing a goal and an assist, as Geneseo tied Plattsburgh State 2-2 at the Ira. S. Wilson Ice Arena.
HOW IT HAPPENED
Senior forward Conlan Keenan got the scoring started at the 18:34 mark of the first period. Senior forward Andrew Romano rung the post from just outside the right faceoff circle which left Keenan with an easy tap-in. Junior defenseman Kyle Hartman and Romano were credited with the assists.
Plattsburgh senior forward Ryan Kuhn tied the game at the 18:19 mark of the second period. The chance came on a two-on-one, assisted by first-year forward Joe Kile.
Plattsburgh tied the game up on the power-play at the 13:28 mark of the third period to force overtime. In the extra frame, Geneseo outshot the Cardinals, 7-1, but couldn't bury the game-winner.
Romano extended his career long point streak to eight games tonight after his assist in the first period.
Plattsburgh goalie Jimmy Poreda made 34 saves on 36 shots while Geneseo junior goalkeeper Aaron Mackay made 21 saves.
Geneseo remains ahead of Oswego in the SUNYAC standings, gaining one point with their tie tonight.
The Knights are now 7-2-1 over their last 10 games.
Geneseo will visit Morrisville for two games next weekend. The first leg of the back to back is Friday, Jan 31 at 7:00 p.m. The second leg is Saturday, Feb 1 at 4:00 p.m.
