GENESEO, N.Y. - SUNY Geneseo senior Julia Kim was invited to play in the 2019 Victory Sports Tours/National Field Hockey Coaches Association (NFHCA) Division III Senior Game, announced Wednesday.
This year's game will be played in conjunction with the NCAA Division III Championship, hosted at the Spooky Nook Sports Complex in Manheim, Pa. on Nov. 23-24.
Kim landed Third-Team All-American recognition as well as SUNYAC Defensive Player of the Year honors a season ago. She scored the lone tally in Geneseo's 1-0 victory over Ithaca (Sept. 21) and added a goal to the 4-0 win at William Smith (Sept. 4) last month. Kim also is tied for the team lead with three defensive saves, including one in the closing minutes of last Saturday's 3-2 win at defending SUNYAC Champion New Paltz.
The Knights (12-2, 3-0 SUNYAC) have won their last nine contests as well as 11 of their last 12 outings. The lone undefeated team in State University of New York Athletic Conference play, Geneseo ranks in the top-10 nationally in scoring offense (8th, 4.00 goals/game) and scoring margin (8th, 3.00 goals/game) while sitting 11th in points per game (10.36). Leading the SUNYAC in all three categories, the Knights are also tops in goals allowed (14) and goals against average (1.00).
Geneseo received votes in the NFHCA Division III national poll for the second-straight week. The Knights travel to Utica this afternoon for a 4:00 p.m. match with the Pioneers.
