GENESEO, N.Y. - Sophomore Grace Cergol, sophomore Sean McAneny, junior Elise Ramirez and senior Audrey Reid each earned State University of New York Athletic Conference (SUNYAC) Athlete of the Week honors, released by conference officials on Monday.
Cergol was named SUNYAC Volleyball Athlete of the Week after averaging 4.7 kills and 3.3 digs per set in three matches played at Vassar last week. She started with 17 kills and 14 digs in a 3-1 victory over Nazareth on Friday before notching nine kills on 11 swings for a .727 attack percentage in a 3-0 victory over Western Connecticut on Saturday. She added 16 kills and 14 digs in a 3-0 setback to the host Brewers as the Knights had their 10-match winning-streak snapped.
McAneny earned SUNYAC Men's Cross Country Runner of the Week after he finished second out of 238 runners to lead the No. 2 Knights to first place out of 18 teams at the 37th-Annual Mike Woods Invitational, Saturday, at Letchworth State Park. He crossed the 8K finish line with a time of 25:01.1 to lead Geneseo to its ninth-straight team title at the meet.
Ramirez was tabbed SUNYAC Women's Cross Country Runner of the Week after finishing second in the 37th-Annual Mike Woods Invitational. She covered the six-kilometer course with a time of 21:32.7 to lead the fourth-ranked Knights to a second place finish, behind a stacked Geneseo Alumni squad.
Reid garnered SUNYAC Women's Soccer Offensive Player of the Week after scoring five goals in the Knights' two conference wins last week. Against Oneonta, the senior buried a penalty kick, curled in a corner kick and scored on a 25-yard direct kick in overtime to complete her first career hat trick and give Geneseo a 3-2 win. On Saturday, Reid scored two more goals, including a 30-yard direct kick as the Knights won, 6-1.
