Noelle Staso, Women's Swimming & Diving
Major: Biology & Mathematics

Staso earned five top-five finishes, including a first-place finish and set a program record in the 100 breast as the Knights placed second at the Ithaca Winter Invitational over the weekend. Staso finished fifth in the 50 free with a time of 24.31. She added a fourth place finish in the 200 breast at 2:23.78. She swam a leg of the Knights fourth-place 800 free relay (7:58.37) and in Geneseo's second place 400 free relay (3:32.16). In the 100 breast, she placed first with a time of 1:05.26, breaking the Geneseo program record.

Nov. 25 - Genny Corcoran, Women's Cross Country
Major: Childhood Education

Corcoran finished as national runner-up at the NCAA Division III Women's Cross Country Championships on Saturday, finishing in second place with a time of 21:11.8 to lead the Knights to a 10th-place finish. Corcoran was named an All-American for the second-straight season after finishing 20th a season ago.

Nov. 18 - Lauren Sposili, Women's Swimming & Diving
Major: Biology
INTERVIEW WITH SPOSILI

Sposili helped lift the Knights to a dual meet victory over conference rival Cortland, 178-105, on Friday night. She finished first in the 500 free, posting the fastest time in the SUNYAC so far this season (5:23.49), first in the 100 breast with the conference's fastest mark of the year and a Geneseo pool record (1:07.65), and added a leg in the Knights' first-place 200 medley relay which finished in 1:51.32.

Nov. 11 - Erin Nolan, Field Hockey
Major: Psychology
INTERVIEW WITH NOLAN

Nolan led the Knights to a SUNYAC Championship, the team's first since 2012, with a pair of late goals against Cortland on Saturday. Named Tournament MVP, Nolan scored the go-ahead goal for the Knights in the fourth quarter before Cortland tied the game and forced overtime. In the second extra period, Nolan redirected a shot from junior Jordan Penkitis into the cage to seal the Knights' championship. 

Nov. 4 - Mariellen Penzer, Women's Cross Country

INTERVIEW WITH PENZER

Penzer finished second out of 99 competitors to help lead the Knights to their ninth-consecutive State University of New York Athletic Conference (SUNYAC) Championship. She crossed the 6-kilometer finish line in 22:56.4 for a career-best finish as Geneseo won its 19th championship in the last 20 years. 

Oct. 28 - Sarah Loprieno, Women's Soccer
Major: Applied Mathematics
INTERVIEW WITH LOPRIENO

Loprieno scored the game-winning goal on Saturday as the Knights defeated host Brockport, 1-0, to seal its third-consecutive first-place regular season finish in the SUNYAC standings. Geneseo earned the top seed in the SUNYAC Tournament and will host throughout. 

Oct. 21 - Maggie Phipps, Field Hockey
Major: Business Administration

Phipps scored 13 points in a pair of victories last week to help Geneseo extend its winning streak to 11. She tied the program record with four goals (all in the second half) of the Knights' 6-2 win over visiting Oneonta on Saturday. Phipps also scored two goals, including the game-tying tally in the 50th minute, and assisted the deciding tally in Wednesday's 4-3 win at Utica. She is currently tied for first in the SUNYAC with 10 goals and is ranked second with 25 points.

Oct. 14 - Grace Cergol, Women's Volleyball
Major: Communication

Cergol led the Knights' attack during a week that included a pair of key SUNYAC victories. She totaled 22 kills and 23 digs in Geneseo's 3-2 win at defending SUNYAC Champion New Paltz on Saturday after logging 13 kills, 10 digs and three service aces in Friday's 3-2 win at Oneonta. She currently leads the SUNYAC with 3.41 kills per set as the Knights became the first team to clinch a berth in the conference tournament with a 7-0 league record. 

Oct. 14 - Taylor Clar, Women's Soccer
Major: Accounting

Clar played a vital role as the Knights earned a pair of SUNYAC victories and clinched a conference tournament berth. Against Fredonia on Friday, Clar scored the game-winning goal with under 15 minutes to play, leading the Knights to a 2-1 victory. At Buffalo State on Saturday, Clar anchored the Geneseo defense as it limited the Bengals to just five shots in a 3-0 shutout. 

Oct. 7 - Haley Clark, Field Hockey
Major: Psychology
INTERVIEW WITH CLARK

Clark led the Knights to a pair of victories last week, including a 2-0 road shutout of Cortland in SUNYAC action, Saturday. Clark totaled a goal and three assists in Wednesday's 5-1 victory at Houghton before scoring a goal in Saturday's decision as Geneseo won its seventh-straight game as well as for the ninth time in its last 10 outings.

Sept. 30 - Sam Mendelsohn, Women's Volleyball
Major: Communication
INTERVIEW WITH MENDELSOHN

Mendelsohn anchored a Geneseo defense that helped the Knights to two victories over conference opponents. Mendelsohn recorded 16 digs and added three assists and two service aces as the Knights came back for a 3-2 victory over Potsdam on Friday. Against Plattsburgh, Mendelsohn added nine digs to eclipse the Geneseo program record for career digs, reaching 1,562 for her career.

Sept. 23 - Hannah Sullivan, Women's Soccer
Major: English Adolescent Education
INTERVIEW WITH SULLIVAN

Sullivan led the Knights to a 5-0 victory over visiting Farmingdale State on Saturday afternoon. Against the Rams, Sullivan scored two goals, including the eventual game-winner, and handed out two assists for a career-high six-point effort. In their six games prior, Farmingdale State had allowed just two goals, but yielded five to the Knights' offense. Sullivan ranks third in the SUNYAC with 13 points on five goals and three assists.

Sept. 23 - Julia Kim, Field Hockey
Major: Childhood and Special Education
INTERVIEW WITH KIM

Kim anchored a Geneseo defense which only allowed one goal in a pair of victories last week. The Knights held host Nazareth to seven shots in a 3-1 win on Wednesday before limiting visiting Ithaca to four shots in a 1-0 shutout on Saturday. Kim also scored the lone goal in the win over the Bombers, finishing a penalty corner in the 24th minute to push Geneseo to its fifth victory in six outings.

Sept. 16 - Natalia Krol, Women's Tennis
Major: Undecided
INTERVIEW WITH KROL

Krol posted a 5-0 mark in singles matches this week, including a pair of conference victories to lead the Knights. Against Oswego on Tuesday, Krol earned a 6-0, 6-0 win at third singles and followed with a 6-1, 6-0 third singles victory at Cortland, Friday. Geneseo competed at the St. Lawrence Invitational where Krol went 3-0 in singles play, defeating opponents from Union and RIT. She improved her singles record to a team-best 9-1 this season.

Sept. 16 - Genny Corcoran, Women's Cross Country
Major: Childhood Education
INTERVIEW WITH CORCORAN

Corcoran finished first out of 218 runners to lead Geneseo to second place out of 16 teams at the Yellowjacket Invitational, Saturday. She covered the six-kilometer course in 21:50.1 to beat the field by over nine seconds. Division I Cornell won the team championship, edging the runner-up Knights, 41-59. 

Sept. 9 - Erin Nolan, Field Hockey
Major: Psychology
INTERVIEW WITH NOLAN

Nolan scored two goals in each of the Knights' games this week to propel Geneseo to two victories. Against William Smith, Nolan broke a scoreless tie in the third quarter with back-to-back goals to put the Knights ahead. Against Skidmore, she scored two more goals, leading Geneseo to its first-ever victory over the Thoroughbreds in 10 meetings. Nolan is tied for the conference lead with four goals after stringing together consecutive multi-goal games for the first time in her career.

Sept. 2 - Domenica Piccoli, Women's Soccer
Major: Elementary and Special Education
INTERVIEW WITH PICCOLI

Piccoli scored three times for the Knights, leading them to a 2-0 mark to begin the season. At Houghton, Piccoli scored the equalizer and the go-ahead goal in a 3-1 victory. At home against Rochester, the senior forward added an important insurance goal as the Knights shutout the YellowJackets, 2-0.
